The best thing in a new mom's life....

.......is a SHOWER! Goodness, I never thought that I would cherish my shower time sooo much! Not only does it make me all nice and clean, but it can make me feel human again, it wakes me up, it gets me moving.. but it does so much more. In those precious 15 minutes (sometmes 20, or even 30 on are times) I can relax. I can de-stress. I can get away. I can collect my thoughts. I can NOT think. That time is MY time, no one else's. No baby, no husband, no animals, no phone calls. No dirty diapers, no spit up, nothing. Unless *I* choose to bring it in. Sometimes I shower with Bella (with Kevin's help of course) and i like that time too. But I really do enjoy my shower time.

It's not that I don't love to be around my family, it's just that I do need that little bit of time away. I don't ask to run out and get my hair done once a month, or get my nails done every week. I don't go out shopping all day, and I don't go out drinking or partying. Honestly, I don't even care about those things.

Do I LIKE to get my hair done? My nails? Get a pedicure? Go shopping? Go out with the girls? Sure I do. BUT, I know that, in order to stay home with Bella, I have to make my own sacrifices. I don't want to put her in daycare. My goal is to make it to one year, at least. Then maybe go back to work part time and work around Kevin's schedule. We will see what the future holds.... I've worked in a daycare, and I know that no matter how great you think it is, public daycare is not truly a place I want my daighter in when she is that young. Babies are put in swings or a crib, and prety much left there. Not that they can do much, but still. They are talked to (At) from around the room, when they should be getting one on one conversation, and being held and cuddled. As they get older they are able to interact wit other kids, and are supervised but still, its just not the environment I want. Sure your child has a 'teacher' but in MOST (not all) situations, the teachers rotate a LOT, and the main teacher is only there for a short part of the day. So there is some structure but not a lot. AND, the odds of her getting sick are sooo high. ALL the time. Kids are ALWAYS sick at school. Even if your child stays home with a fever, they are contagious BEFORE they get a fever, and so then it just keeps geting passed around.

Ugh, but I could go on. The whole point is that I am going to do whatever it takes to keep her out of daycare as long as possible.

A visit with the family

My parents came down last week to visit! I'm sooo happy they did! I hadn't seen them since August of 2007. We had a geat time, spent a lot of time playing Wii Bowling, and even went REAL bowling one day! Did some shopping, and my mom bought Bella some SUPER cute outfits. She also bought me Animal Crossing:City Folk for Wii, and another game for the Wii that has horseshoes, bean bag toss, lawn darts, etc. AND, to top it all off, they gave us money for a new recliner (Well, it was more for Kevin's birthday, which is next week). So we got a new La-Z-Boy! YAY for no more clicking recliner when you rock!

It really is hard with my family being so far away. I do love Kevin's family, they are great. It's just not the same though, not like having my OWN family nearby. His aunt and uncle are wonderful, and would do anything or us, and same with his cousin and his famly. It's good to know we have such wonderful people close by to help us whenever we need it, but, I don't know. It is hard to explain.

So one one hand I miss my family. I especially wish my sister lived closer. I wish our children could grow up and know each other better. I wish I was closer with my own cousins.

On the OTHER hand... my mom does drive me INSANE. I love her soo much, and yet, sometimes I am just soooo irritated with her. She needs to quit smoking. For more than just herself. She has two grandchildren now, and I would like her to be around to watch them grow up. My uncle is on dialysis for his kidneys, and my mom is a PERFECT match. Like super-duper-she-could-be-his-twin perect. BUT she has to quit smoking and lose some weight. So she says, she's working on losing the weight first, because if she quits smoking she'll just gain weight. honestly, I think it's a cop-out.

My dad is doing great, he quit smoking, quit dipping, and he's eating healthier and excercising a but too! It makes me really proud that he's doing what he can to get healthy. He has done so well that he is now off his cholesterol medicine, which he said a lot of people have a very hard time doing. Now he is working on his blood pressure. It will be harder, but he is going in the right direction for sure!

My brother - OH MY GOODNESS! He's taller than me, he's got brown hair, (it used to be blonde!) and he's just.. a TEENAGER! My little brother is going to be 17 this July, and I just can't believe it! He's so grown up - and super smart. He makes these videos from games, like little movies. It's really great, and he's really good at it. I hope he continues with it, I think he might be able to do something with it. =)

Other than that not much else has been going on. I cooked dinner a few nights for my parents, and they even went to church with us, which was REALLY great. I don't think either of them has been to church in years. Maybe it will encourage them to go more often? Probably not, but I hope it does, in fact, I will pray that they do start going to church. It is healthy for them.

------In Other News-------

Bella is getting stronger by the minute! She holds her head up so well! She's super talkative, and just LOVES to smile at her daddy! She also is very quick to let you know when she needs something. She'll be all smiles one minute, then crying the next because suddenly she decided she is tired! She loves to be swaddled up at night, in fact, she HAS to be swaddled or she does NOT stay asleep! She also likes to be rocked in the glider, and I love to rock her. It is probably a bad habit that I'm forming, but I can't help it. I love holding her in my arms and letting her bury her fact in the crook of my elbow, which she does in order to fall asleep. It is super cute!

We went grocery shopping again today, and I bought $120 worth of stuff, and paid only $54! I am super proud of my couponing skills! I hope to continue to get better, although I do need a better sorting system. Right now I'm just using envelopes, and it's okay, but takes me a long time to find what I need. I get a lot of tips/idea from Frugal Coupon Living. I have a link to her on the side bar. She has lots of great saving ideas and tips!

Well, it is super late, and my little munchkin has started getting up a little earlier than her usual 8:30-9am. Hopefully I can find a happy schedule with her, but I think it will take some time yet for that to happen...

can you believe she's 3 months already!

Adventures in Couponing!

So Thursday Kevin and I went to get groceries , and I decided to use my coupons! It took us a while, because I'm not yet organized with them, but we did okay.

We saved $76 total with bonus buys (store saving when you use your bonus card) and manufacturer coupons, and then they also had triple coupons this week, so we were able to triplve the face value of some coupons.

My most awesome deal? Hair dye.

I had a coupon for $2 off Clairol hair dye, while I was walking up and down the aisles, I came upon a clearance rack, which had some Herbal Essence hair dye (made by clairol!) It was on sale for $4 and some change. Then I had the $2 coupon, so I got the dye for like, $2.50 or something! which is AWESOME because it is usually like $9 regular price. TOTALLY rocked! =)

So yay! We still spent about $130 bucks shopping, but it could have been over $200! Plus we haven't been shopping in SO long, so we had a lot to get. I'm totally proud of myself, and know that I will continue to get better and more organized!

Family Time!

So last night my parents and brother got in. They are visiting from Arkansas. I'm so excited that they are here, I haven't seen them since summer of 2007. My brother is so much taller than me! I still can't believe he will be 17 this year! Makes me feel so old!

Today we didn't do anything other than hang around the house. Since they drove all day yesterday, today was just a day to rest and relax. Tomorrow they are going to church with us, then we might be doing some running around. Bella has been doing well. She just stares at my brother.

The dogs are so excited, mostly because now THEY are getting attention.

Harley is acting normally, and Peanut, well, I don't think he's come out from under our bed since they got here. haha.

Kevin worked last night and tonight, but then he's off for a week. I'm super excited about that.

My mom brought some super cute outfits, I can't wait to get them washed so Bella can wear them. Some of them are too big, but thats okay! She will grow into them!

I cooked dinner tonight - Ranch baked chicken with warm corn dressing. MMMMMMmmmmMMMM! we also had mashed potatoes and italian bread. It really was De-lish!

Tomorow I'm not sure what we are going to make. Maybe hot dogs on the grill? We also plan to deep fry a turkey, make stuffed pork chops, chili, and I think chicken noodle soup. I would also like to take them to dinner at Romas, since it's my favorite place to eat.

I have no idea what other things we might do, but even if we just stay home all day, thats fine by me.

So today Bella was in a good mood! I put her in her bouncy seat in the kitchen, did the dishes, wiped down the counters, and swept. Then I decided to pull the chest freezer out to get the hair and crap that was between it and the fridge. Then when I did that, I figured lets pull out the fridge too. OMG! There was sooo much crap under there! I ended up scrubbing the floor with a scrub brush. I know, who looks under there, right? But once I saw it, I could NOT just leave it. I also pulled all the magnets off the fridge, and scrubbed the outside of the fridge. Now it's super white again! Just like new! As for the inside.. well I will get there at some point. I HOPE today, but the chances are not very good that I will. I mopped the floor with bleach water, and now I'm going to go back over it with the swiffer mop. Yes, I always mop the floor twice. Once usually with mop n glo or whatever I had. Today I used bleach because I already had the bucket made up from cleaning under the fridge.

So I just need to finish mopping, vaccum the rug under the table, clean the windows, dust, and clear off the table.

Then vaccum, dust, clean windows in the living room.

I also need to get the spare room cleaned up.

We'll see how much gets done!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

So I'm finally getting around to setting up this blog. I want to get into the habit of using it, but it will take time.

Bella is growing sooo fast! Every day I am amazed at just how big she is getting. Sometimes I forget how little she really is, and think she should be farther ahead in her developement, but then when I look online, I see that she is right on track. I try to do tummy time with her, but she really HATES it. She will be super happy, and then you flip her on her tummy, and she's okay fo about 2 minutes (if that) and then she's done. I figure anytime is better than no time. I think she doesn't like it because she wants to look around and can't. Sometimes I just let her get mad, because then she DOES lift her head up, as if to look around to see where I am and why I haven't picked her up yet!

She had her 2 month checkup on March 5th. She weighs 9lbs 12oz and is 23 3/4 in long! I was so happy to see that she was gaining weight. It confirms that she's getting enough milk from me, and that I'm doing well with nursing her! She has been sleeping through the night since she was 8 weeks. We just recently started putting her to sleep in her own room rather than in ours. It makes our room very quiet now. I don't know why, but it seems so lonely without her in there next to the bed. I think it is better for her though, she will sleep better without the noises of me sleeping, or the dogs sleeping in the room. I never let the cats in the room when she slept in there, so now that she's in her room, the cats are happy to be able to curl up on the bed too.

My parents are coming to visit for a week. I'm really excited, but at the same time I'm anxious about it. I so want them to meet Bella, but at the same time, I know my mom still smokes, and I don't want her holding Bella smelling like smoke. My dad does not smoke, so I don't worry about him. I haven't seen my parents or my brother since the summer of 2007. I really do miss them so very much, and I wish they lived closer.

I've recently joined Skype. I love it! I get on and chat with my sister almost every day. I love seeing her and my nephew, and I know she loves seeing Bella. I think it is a wonderful thing - being ale to video chat with fiends and family online. I remember when video phones came out, and thought that it was just something that we'd never have, because the phones cost so much. Now it's free! Well, I DID have to buy a webcam, but it's not like it was expensive.

Well, that's all I got for now. Actually, I have more, but it's 1:15am, and really, I should go to bed. I don't even know WHY or HOW I'm still awake!
