Hanging out with mom

Lately, Bella has been cuddly in the morning, wanting to just sit next to me on the couch and drink her juice or milk. She was so cute the other day in her little tank onesie and shorts, I couldn't help but snap a couple of pictures!

Stuck inside..

We had some wonderful, beautiful, amazingly warm days... and we took full advantage of them.. then it got cold again. Well the few days was all it took for Bella to know that the only place to be is outside! Unfortunately, she doesn't understand that on cold or rainy days, we aren't going to run around outside. She started getting cabin fever fairly quick, so I dug out some paints that I had from when I had my nieces up for a weekend, and some paintbrushes, and decided to let her have some fun.

At first I gave her some paint on a brush and a piece of paper.. I helped her make a few lines, and she copied for a second, then decided to "sample" the paint. She did this with each new color. It's all non-toxic, so I didn't make too much of a fuss, just took it out of her mouth. I wanted something with her hand and feet prints, so we did that.. I thought for sure by the end we would need a bath, but really, she didn't get messy at all. She just sat there and squished the paint between her hands.  It was fun, but didn't keep her occupied nearly long enough.

Nightmares or Night Terrors?

Bella's ears are getting better, but I'm starting to think the antibiotics are giving her bad dreams. She has been waking up just a few hours after going down, completely screaming, freaking out, and crying "nooooooo". When we go in, she clings to us for dear life! I am getting frustrated that she's waking up and NOT going back to sleep, but I'm also worried about why she is waking up, and not going to sleep again, something she usually does on her own, or at least, with just a few pats or rubs on the back. Last night we gave her some milk in a sippy, which she only took a few sips of, then Motrin, AND Orajel, AND Mylicon.. Finally she went back down, and slept until 7:30am. I did hear her wake up a bit, but not the screaming stuff, so we left her. I'm trying to be there for her, but also not let her learn the habit of us running to her every time she wakes up.. ya know?

I was trying to read up about this last night in my What to Expect, The Toddler Years but it seems these things don't occur until they are older? Closer to two? So.. I am *really* thinking it is the antibiotics. I can't remember if she did this the last time she was on this particular antibiotic. I know this one doesn't give her super bad diapers like the others she's been on, so maybe the trade-off is no diaper rash for nightmares?

If you have experience, opinions, thoughts, ideas about this, I would *really* appreciate it. She's only on them a few more days.

Spring Teaser

So, last week we had beautiful 70 degree weather! Bella and I spent as much of it outside as possible, at the park, around the house, going for a walk.. just soaking up some vitamin D. Let me tell you - the sun will brighten ANY mood! I felt so motivated to get up and get moving. I was soooo happy. I love warm weather.

Then, Bella started with a clear, runny nose and a dry cough.. I figured it was allergies. The cough progressed, the runny nose didn't stop (although still clear). She developed a barky cough, that only seemed worse when she ate or drank anything. Well, Monday came around and I was going to take her in, but then it seemed better.. then Monday night she had an awful meltdown, wouldn't drink anything, was swatting at her ear and saying "noooo" in this awful "I'm in so much pain" kinda cry. So Tuesday I took her in and sure enough, ear infection in her right ear.  This is her 3rd since Christmas, and the last one was just a couple weeks ago! Thankfully, the meds seem to be working quickly, and she is in better spirits now. If only the nice weather would come back and stay back. I HATE the cold! Now I know why people travel to Florida every winter!

Well, that's really all there is to update about. Bella goes for her follow up/15 month checkup on the 9th, and we will possibly talk about the options for tubes, etc. I want to avoid them if I can, but I want to know my options and more information about it.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well, it's been beautiful outside, and the past couple days we have spent going to the park and playing outside! But let me go back a bit.

For my birthday I went out to shop and spend time with my friend Brooke. Her birthday is 3 days before mine, and every year we go out together to get our free burger from Red Robin. We did a little shopping as well. It was a great day! Then, on Monday after my birthday, My wonderful husband set up a surprise dinner at Olive Garden for me, and invited a few friends and family. He also got a cake from Cold Stone Creamery. He really is the best!

Then, This past weekend we went up to PA for our nephew's 16th birthday party. It was a lot of fun, and really nice to get away and see his family. Bella had a blast with all her cousins, too.

Now, we've had some beautiful weather, and have been going outside and playing at the park. Bella LOVES to be outside, and it's hard to get her back in. She just wants to run and run and run! She also loves swings and would spend all day in the swings if I let her! She is totally her daddy's girl in that way, as he loves to be outdoors too. I think this summer will be sooo much fun! AND, since it's nicer out, we can go for walks and to the park, instead of the mall or Target. Spring and Summer, not only fun, but budget friendly too! haha!

Anyhow, we are really enjoying the warm weather and the sunshine. It really makes everyone in a better mood!

Birthday Wishes...

What an Awesome Cake! LOVE IT!

No, that's not MY cake, but I wish it was! LOL Today is my birthday. I haven't made a fuss this year, I haven't asked for anything at all. Today Bella and I are going to visit my friend Brooke, and do a little shopping and have dinner at Red Robin. Brooke's birthday was Wednesday, and we are both 29. So we like to do something together every year!

One more year and then I'm 30. UGH! I know, right? Actually, it's not a big deal. I mean, so what. I can remember when 30 seemed SOOOOO old, but now.. not so much. It is hard to believe I am almost there. Anyhow, you are only as old as you feel. So some days I'm 18, and others I'm 80. haha. Thats all the plans I have. I'll maybe post some pictures this week, if I remember to take any.

Have a great weekend!

14 Months Old!

Bella, March 2009

Oh Goodness.. it's March and that means my little Isabella Grace is 14 months old! I can hardly believe it! one year ago she was so tiny and small and sweetly just 2 months old! She has grown so much! Not just in height! (and boy she is TALL!) but she is talking and walking, throwing fits, demanding, loving, blowing kisses, hugging, pointing, cuddling... the list goes on.

March 2010 - 14 months old!

Here are her current stats!

She is (approx.) 21lbs.
She is (approx) 33" <<--this is a rough guess.. she doesn't sit long enough to measure!
Her favorite foods are: Sweet Potatoes, Applesauce, and Mandarin Oranges
She can sign the following: More, Eat, Daddy, Please, Thank You, and All Done
She has a wide vocabulary, and these are the words she can say (although, not everyone understands!)

  • Ball
  • Duck (and quack quack)
  • Kitty (and Meow Meow)
  • Lizzy
  • Gabby
  • Peanut
  • Mama
  • Daddy
  • Bye Bye
  • Hi
  • Hey
  • That
  • This
  • Juice
  • Shoe
  • Nose
  • No No No
  • Cookie

She can also tell you that a cow says "mmmmmoooo".
Her favorite show is The Wiggles. She loves to brush her teeth. She has 12 teeth now! She can point to her nose, her eyes, tummy, and toes. If you ask her where her tongue is, she sticks it out at you! We are working on learning our hair, ears and knees. She loves to go places, but hates getting into her carseat!  Every day she amazes me with the things she can do or say! She is super smart and figures things out very quickly!

Infected...

Bella on a lunch date with her boyfriend, Kyle.

Oh my.. what a week it has been! Bella had a cold last week, which turned into an infection in both of her ears. We got her on antibiotics Saturday, and she is doing much better now. Then Sunday, I started with the sniffles and sneezing and throat tickles.. which turned into a serious sinus/head cold.. Monday I slept all day long, and Tuesday was feeling pretty good, so I went out and ran some errands and had lunch with some friends. Well, that afternoon, my body told me I had done way too much, and I started feeling stiff and achy and stuffy again. Wednesday was just as bad. Sudafed and Theraflu helped, but not for long. Every time I stood up I would get a little dizzy, or have a throbbing in my ears and head. I thought I had an ear infection. I haven't had one since I was a kid.. So I called my personal Ear Infection Expert: My Sister. It's awful that she is such an expert, she's been plagued with ear infections since she was a baby, had an eardrum rupture, and has had some hearing loss in that ear because of it. She still is very susceptible to infections now, in her 20s. BUT, I am glad I have someone I can call and explain my symptoms too, and trust her opinion.  So I told her what I was feeling and she said is definitely sounded like an infection.

Here's where the guilt comes in. Kevin stayed home from work already on Monday so I could rest. I am  STILL sick and not 100%, so he's already picking up a lot of things that I usually do, along with taking care of Bella. And now, I want to go sit in the Urgent Care office for however long, right at dinner/bath time. I wasn't gonna go, but then the pain was getting so bad.. so he told me to go. I want to be clear though, Kevin never made me feel bad about doing all that. It's all me. It's just me, I just feel bad, because he already works so hard and does so much, I feel like I should be stronger and just "suck it up". But I just couldn't.
Pulled out her hairbands from her pigtails..

So I go to the "Quick Care" up the road, which is only ran by a Nurse Practitioner, and only cover the basic stuff.. fortunately that includes colds and earaches. I sit and wait.. and wait.. and wait.. maybe only half an hour or 40 minutes.. but it felt like a REALLY.LONG.TIME. Finally I go back, and tell her all my symptoms, and she looks in my ears and  says "Your got an infection". So She continues to explain how an infection happens, why, etc. She also felt the need to explain that while I may have caught the virus that caused the infection from my daughter, I didn't actually catch the ear infection from her. I did make a comment that I wish my daughter didn't share EVERYTHING with me.. it was a joke, but I guess with a fever and a stuffy nose, the joke was lost on her. So she gave me an antibiotic - Augmentin - and I head to the drug store. It's just after 6 now, and I have 20 minutes to waste. I put gas in Kevin's car, then walk around CVS for a bit. Get my meds, and head home. Take my antibiotics and some Theraflu, put Bella to bed, then laid on the couch.

At some point after I went to bed, I started to get an upset stomach. It got really really bad, and with nothing in my stomach, my body didn't have much to get rid of. I'll spare you the details, you're welcome, but I was finally able to fall asleep. Thankfully Bella slept in until 7:15 this morning.

I debated whether or not to take my meds today, but I will take them for a couple days, see if my body adjusts. I also made sure to eat this morning before I took it,  so I'm hoping that helps some.

Sorry there isn't more to update! But at least I've included a few pictures of my princess. Makes the whole rambling post worth it, doesn't it?

Getting upset because the remote she has isn't the one that works the T.V. LOL
Oh, and that is Gabby watching it SNOW.

From Sick Baby to Sick Mama

So, while Bella is on antibiotics now and feeling better, I am hit with this awful bug. Its horrible and feels like the flue, except I don't think it is the flu. Anyhow, I feel like a bus hit me, which is how I'm sure Bella felt last week. My head is pounding non stop, and my sinuses feel like they will explode any minute. Kevin kindly stayed home from work today so I can rest and sleep, but tomorrow he goes back, so hopefully I will feel better tomorrow.

So, thats my great update.

p.s.

Theraflu is the devil. I mean, it's great, but it tastes vile!
